this article covers uncommon details.
It do not covers: speed, storage, price, etc.
I do covers: limit, bugs, something most users do not care about.
dropbox
- ONLY service which fully support symlink.
- summrize recent sync list.
- easy start/resume sync.
- sync folder is movable without reinstalling application. (may only?)
google drive
- selective sync is limited to 1-depth; you can select immediate children of root only.
- requires redaudant space: If you are using selective sync and have enough space to some of item but not all, You will receive “no enough space” message and your sync will be paused. No workaround; You have to clear out your local disk or cloud either.
- have some installation issues. (python library is not loaded; I encounted this when I installed it on windows server, and resolved it by installing “desktop experinces”.)
onedrive
- some bugs with selective sync. If you select some but not all of the item, then you will find all of them are loaded. a workaround is re-configure it. 2nd try after “complete” sync will resolve this problem.
- inconvenient to start/resume sync; It may be critical if you are having modification detection issue or when you are in a hurry.
- symlink is not supported; Altough both windows and ondrive are product of same company(Micro$oft).
